A Tribute to Super Mario in Art

He has shifted a whopping 200 million games worldwide.

Mario is probably the most recognisable faces in the history of video games, and if you are like me then you will have grown up with Mario and his brother Luigi throughout your life.

Since his incarnation as ‘Jumpman’ in 1981 in the classic ‘Donkey Kong’ video game created by Japanese video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, he has shifted a whopping 200 million games worldwide.

For more than 30 years Mario has been battling Donkey Kong, Bowser (King Koopa), Wart and Wario, collecting enough gold coins to be a billionaire, eating magic mushrooms, jumping on turtles shells, racing his kart and rescuing Princess Peach along the way. That is not all, he also had his own cartoon series’ and Hollywood movie (but let’s not talk about that last one!) It has been one amazing adventure so far.

This collection of art featured, which you can also buy as prints was created by designer and illustrator Christopher Lee. Lee like myself grew up in the 80’s and early 90’s and his work has been influenced by those cool saturday morning cartoons, toys and memorabilia.

You can find see more of Lee’s work at: The Beast is Back | DeviantArt |Store
