Can You Believe These Dresses Were Made From Waste Washed Up on the Beach?

“One is never over-dressed or under-dressed with a Little Black Dress (Made from refuse sacks)”

Can you believe these fashion garments were all made from debris and litter that washed up on beaches in Los Angeles, USA and Sydney, Australia!

This fashion collection was created by Marina DeBris. The photos were all taken on location in a real recycling centre (rats and garbage included) with the help of photographer Lisa Bevis, makeup artist Andrew Shulman & hair stylist Nina Paskowitz.

The collection was created to raise an awareness of waste that ends up in our beautiful oceans and it all started in 2009 with the realisation that the waster we create will eventually come back to haunt us.

Marina says “I’ve been picking up trash along beaches for over a dozen years. My mission began when I moved from Bondi Beach, to L.A. Originally, I would just pick up Styrofoam cups and bring them to the local 7-11, but I soon realised that this wasn’t really attacking the root problem. I needed a creative way to draw attention to it.”
