If Studio Ghibli Made Star Wars

It’s only gone and happened!

It’s only happened! Two of my all-time favourite franchises have been mashed-up! Yes, Star Wars and Studio Ghibli.

Even if it is only in art form, we can all thank the brilliant mind of German based concept artist Lap Pun Cheung, who has created these beautiful Ghibli inspired images of famous scenes of the awesome Star Wars saga.

The images all spanning through various time periods of the saga. Hayao Miyazaki and George Lucas would be proud I’m sure.

Take a look at Darth Vader. You can see the Ghibli styled flying machines in the background that usually feature in Miyazaki’s animations. Along with his Storm Troopers that look like they are straight out of Dola’s gang from the Ghibli movie ‘Laputa’.

“I tried to mash Vader into the Ghibli style and settings. I wanted it to look like a still from a possible film haha.”

Han Solo, Rey and Finn and a very cute and fluffy Chewbacca with a another cool looking Ghibli styled flying machine version of the Millennium Falcon in the background.

“I used to wonder that myself. Thought it was a bunch of mumbo-jumbo-magical power holding together good, evil, the dark side and the light. Crazy thing is, it’s true. The Force, the Jedi, all of it. It’s all true.”

This awesome scene from Phantom Menace, although may look a lot cuter than the original, you just know that it’s Studio Ghibli wouldn’t hold back on the violence!

“The ultimate duel at the end of Episode I. This is one of my favourite star wars fights ever and has the most awesome soundtrack to accompany it!” says Cheung.
