Pumpkins have long been associated with Halloween for many centuries.
Although it is not certain how this custom of Jack o-Lanterns came about we do know that turnips and other root vegetables were used with as lanterns with faces carved into them for the Gaelic festival of Samhain which was celebrated 31st October – 1st November in the 1800s in parts of the British Isles and Ireland.
The lanterns were used to light your way, represent the spirits and protect you and your home from them. So let’s take a look at some creepy and creative carved pumpkins. Happy Halloween everyone.
