It is not called the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ for nothing. Japan 日本 (Nippon or Nihon) is a very beautiful country.
About 73 percent of Japan is forested, mountainous and has a varying temperature from north to south which makes for some spectacular scenery and sights.
Japan is made up of 6,852 islands. The main islands, from north to south, are Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu. The Ryukyu Islands, which includes Okinawa, are a chain to the south of Kyushu. Together they are often known as the Japanese Archipelago. it has one of the worlds largest populations with over 126 million people and has the highest life expectancy of any country.
