The Surreal Photoshop Zooscapes of Chris Benn

“I go to zoos with a zoom lens, it’s cheaper than going to Africa although the skies and landscapes are quite unique there.”

Welcome to the Surreal Photoshop Zooscapes of graphic designer Chris Benn.

Chris had been in the design industry for many years, before settling down in the remote beautiful surroundings of South Germany as a stay at home dad. With a lot of spare time on his hands and the inspiration of beautiful blue skies and the lush grassy hills of the alps he creates these amazing surreal images.

“I travel lots and photograph as much as my memory cards will allow” Chris says “I go to zoos with a zoom lens, it’s cheaper than going to Africa although the skies and landscapes are quite unique there.”

Chris incorporates his many photos of animals with everyday objects. Objects which a lot of us would usually ignore, such as rusty metal and discarded items. The combined finished effect is just amazing.

Chris says “I try to add metaphorical touches and juxtaposed forms which hopefully add to the interpretation of the work. I’m not interested in creating disgust or shock, I am more interested in creating unusual and fascinating images that are slightly ironic with a subtle blend of humour.”
