With the boom of VHS and the VCR in the 1980s people couldn’t get enough of home cinema…
Lots and lots of cheap and quickly made movies were plowed out for the straight to video market and to keep stores like Blockbuster in stock. Nowadays these movies would be found in some bargain bin, on Syfy or the Horror Channel but back then going to the movie store was a way of life.
You could spend a while looking down the many aisles and aisles of cassettes at the movie store. Being drawn in by the Box cover art. So many movies to choose from. The only problem is these movies were usually tacky horror films or some crappy post-apocalyptic sci-fi action movie that would include cyborgs, ninjas and David Carradine and they saturated the movie genres for years to come.
Anyway, we’ve taken a step back in time and found some of the best crappy movie poster art for some retro movies that may or not be crappy too and you know what? I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve actually seen quite a few of these movies.
