Today we are taste-testing the 2015 Hotel Chocolat Advent Calendar. Yum!

This year, Christmas has come early with these rather delicious milk chocolate advent calendars from the delightful people over at Hotel Chocolat!

A little bit about Hotel Chocolat…

If you have ever been in a Hotel Chocolat store then you will know what exquisite chocolate products they sell.  I am lucky enough to have a Hotel Chocolat shop in my current town of Telford, and there are over 70 stores nationwide and 2 restaurants.

The company was originally founded in 1987 as a catalogue based chocolatier under the name Choc Express by Angus Thirwell and Peter Harris. The company re-branded in 2003 as Hotel Chocolat and opened their first retail store in Watford. A few years later In 2006, they officially acquired the Rabot Estate in Saint Lucia, West Indies, making it, the only company in the UK to own its own cocoa plantation.

The Opening

Once I first saw the calendar my first thought was, that it was such a shame to have to open it, because as always with Hotel Chocolat products they just look so immaculate and beautifully presented.

The calendar I was sent was the milk chocolate variety, but is also available in dark and white chocolate too.

The calendar was attractively packaged in a red festive colour with snowflakes and opens up like a book to reveal 24 doors. Behind each door is a yummy Christmas shaped chocolate figurine all made by Hotel Chocolat themselves.

The chocolate sculptures vary from cute little Santa’s to penguins to Christmas trees. Behind some of the doors there are chocolate slabs telling you how many days there are left to the big day.

My overall favourite would have to be the Rudolph the Reindeer sculpture. He’s so adorable!

The Tasting

Of course, the chocolate tastes lovely. It’s velvety smooth and any chocolate lover will tell you that Hotel Chocolat makes some of the most exquisite high quality milk chocolate you will ever taste.

I was fortunate to have the excuse of reviewing the calendar, so I wasn’t restricted to just having one chocolate a day. I was able to keep opening new doors to try more and more, because once you try one, you will want more, believe me!

I’ll leave it up to you to see what is hiding behind door number 24. Merry Christmas.

Where to Buy

The calendar is available to buy at all Hotel Chocolat stores and concessions and retails at £12.50, which is a very reasonable price for such a premium product I’m sure you will agree.
