We really do live in a beautiful world. You only have to open a copy of National Geographic magazine or turn on the Discovery Channel to see some of the most gorgeous and scenic places on Earth. What we don’t see is the effect we as Humans are having on the planet.
We humans consume a lot, but we waste a hell of a lot too. What people don’t realise is the impact our wastefulness has on the environment. To some people they don’t know, but to some it’s a case of, if they can’t see it where they live, then they try to forget about it!
The biggest culprits for waste and pollution are plastics and oil. The two go hand in hand. The more demand for plastic the more oil we need to help create it. The production of plastic has increased dramatically over the decades with us producing more plastic based products in the last decade than we did for the whole of the 20th century! Over a year we use 500 billion plastic bags across the globe and 90% of the waste in our oceans made up of plastic waste. This man-made substance can take hundreds of years to dissolve.
It’s an environmental horror story!
I’m not some crazy activist who is trying to brainwash you. Just take a look at these truly shocking images that will stay with you forever. Maybe you will think twice before grabbing those extra plastic bags and not recycling those bottles!
