It’s not everyday you go walking in the beautiful English countryside and expect to stumble upon a secret 700 year-old Knights Templar cave!
To the untrained eye you’d think this was just a normal rabbit, fox or badger hole, but if you take a closer look then it’s a true sight to behold.
Hidden below a farmer’s field in the beautiful county of Shropshire we find that inside is an untouched hand carved cave. No, it’s not a secret entrance to Wonderland, but a cave used by none other than the followers of the medieval religious order – the Knights Templar. This got us very excited because Joyenergizer’s office is only down the road.
These amazing and detailed images were all taken by Birmingham photographer Michael Scott, who after seeing a video online set out in search of the historical wonder.
Michael Scott says “I traipsed over a field to find it, but if you didn’t know it was there you would just walk right past it. ‘It’s probably less than a metre underground, so it’s more into the field than under it. Considering how long it’s been there it’s in amazing condition, it’s like an underground temple.’
