8 Reasons Why People Don’t Reach the Level of Success They Desire

What does success mean to you?

Success is an incredibly subjective concept. Most of us desire to be successful, but very few of us understand what success means.

For some, success might be correlated with financial wealth. For others, success means a healthy and happy family. For others, success means living a spiritual life that doesn’t prioritize desires. For some, success is about making the ends meet.

In my opinion, success is anything that makes you feel at peace. It doesn’t necessarily mean to be constantly happy because happiness is a temporary state that presumes unlimited desires.

The pyramid of Maslow suggests that people have different needs that need to be met in a progressive sequence.

First, we need to survive. That involves food and shelter.

Then, we need personal safety.

Then we have social needs, or the needs to belong (family, friends, communities).

Next, we have esteem needs (status, recognition, power, respect, freedom).

Lastly, we have the need for self-actualization, which is the desire to meet our full potential and leave a legacy behind.

As Carrey Griggs, the founder of Grade Miners suggests, “By recognizing where you stand in the Maslow’s pyramid, finding the proper route to your unique definition of success will become possible.”

Nevertheless, to climb up the ladder of needs and fulfill one after another, we need to work on ourselves. We need a good mindset and attitude, skills, strategy, and a lot of consistency.

In today’s post, I’m going to share the main reasons why people don’t reach the level of success that they desire. Pay attention!

Most People Lack a Real Purpose

What does it mean to have a real purpose?

Well, for example, many entrepreneurs that fail miserably happen to focus on their profits rather than the value they bring to the table.

Generally, a real purpose is something big. Something important. Let me give you some examples of real purposes:

  • Make a positive and remarkable change in X or Y industry.
  • Reach the best version of yourself.
  • Provide value to your connections and help them become better versions of themselves.
  • Use a specific skill to make the world better.
  • Empower myself to empower my kids.
  • Teach people how to protect themselves from harmful foods, beliefs, and attitudes.
  • Become a wise person who lifts other people through amazing advice.
  • Provide the best essay help in my country.

You can have more than one purpose, and it can be anything that makes you “tick.” Nevertheless, the purpose should be connected to your idea of success. If you want to be a rich person, you should establish a purpose that will bring you there.

People that don’t have a sense of purpose are waking up every day to get carried by their schedule, without attaining even a decent level of sovereignty. In this case, success is impossible.

They Don’t Understand the Value of Time

Unsuccessful people lack focus. To achieve great things, a person needs to acknowledge and understand the value of time. They’re anywhere, everywhere, anytime because they don’t prioritize their time to reach their objectives and attain their purposes.

Out of all the available resources, time is the most valuable because it is limited by nature. One has to learn how to say “NO,” how to properly manage his time, and how to truly commit to what’s important.

They Lack Consistency and Persistence

Success is hard. In fact, it is harder than most people think. Unsuccessful people don’t make the difference between dreams and goals. Everyone can have a dream, but not everyone can reach a goal. To reach something important, you need to take consistent action and be persistent.

Giving up is very common. Most people fail once or twice, and they give up because it’s “too hard.” This attitude will always lead to failure and disappointment.

For example, before I landed a job at the best essay writing paper in my country, I had to fail miserably and get back on my feet until my skills got recognized. It took me two years and a half until I’ve reached my goal, but in the end, the time and effort were worth it. Some of the greatest successes arise after many failures and lessons.

They Are Unable to Move Past their Limiting Beliefs

A limiting belief is the biggest enemy and obstacle in one’s journey towards success. When you believe that you’re “too weak,” “not so smart,” “unlucky,” or “unsuccessful,” you’ll attract exactly that.

Our subconscious mind is a powerful tool. It can work for us or against us. The placebo effect is a great proof: if our mind believes that we’re healing because of a presumably miraculous pill, our bodies will heal even if that pill was nothing more than a sugar pill.

If you want to become a successful salesman, you need to perceive yourself as one of the best salesmen in the history of the world. If you want to be a great mother, you need to remove all the limiting beliefs that suggest that you’re not a great mother.

Affirmations and visualizations are helpful tools when it comes to shaping or removing beliefs.

They Don’t Perceive Their Problems and Challenges as Growth Opportunities

Everyone has problems. I do, you do, and the most successful people also do. However, the difference between unsuccessful and successful people is that the latter perceive their problems as challenges and growth opportunities.

When the things we need to achieve are “hard,” we can be fearful or courageous. If we choose to be courageous and perceive those obstacles as growth opportunities, nothing can stop us from achieving them. Even if we fail, we get back up and try again. However, if the opposite mentality is present, we’ll give up even before trying or after the first failed attempts.

They Lack Willpower and Self-Discipline

Willpower is not a born trait. It is a trainable skill that we must take responsibility for. A successful person knows what’s important and is willing to do anything it takes to get there. Willpower is personal power. If you do what you say you do, you’re able to move mountains at one point.

If you want to wake up at 5 AM and exercise every day after a lifetime of procrastination, you’ll need to take it step by step.

Train your willpower by waking up at 8 AM for a week, and exercise 3 days per week. After a week, wake up at 7 AM and exercise 4 days per week. Keep doing small steps until you reach your goal.

Self-discipline is key to achieving any kind of success in life. If you cannot rule your mind and behavior, your bad habits will take control of your priorities and goals.

“If you fail to keep up with your promises, your willpower and self-discipline levels will decrease. The more you fail yourself, the less confident you’ll become.” – John Hick, CEO at Custom Dissertation Writing Service.

They’re Not Taking Proper Care of their Physical and Mental Health

Successful people develop healthy daily habits in order to cultivate physical and mental energy. Unsuccessful people don’t care about their routines, nutrition, or fitness. They pursue immediate pleasure instead of focusing on long-term results.

A truly successful person understands that health is more important than anything. An unsuccessful person works a lot to build his financial wealth, and at the end of his career, he’ll pay most of his money to gain back his health.

They Don’t Learn from Mistakes

Unsuccessful people don’t learn from the mistakes they commit. If you do something that leads you to dissatisfaction, you need to mark that moment and promise yourself that you’ll never do it again. Or, you need to focus on changing your course of action in order to generate a different result.

By doing the same thing, you will only get the same result. As Albert Einstein famously quoted, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Final Words

If you want to be successful, you need to raise your standards and work until you become the best version of yourself. Define your success and do whatever you have to do in order to get there. Setbacks and obstacles are merely lessons that need to be passed. In this life, exceptional results never come easy.

Work on your skills, work on your mindset, and prioritize your strengths. Take small steps and track your progress. Balance the personal and professional life and give yourself enough alone time to reflect on your life. Focus on the present moment and give your best every day.

Do that, and you will be successful!
