This stunning Salvador Dali inspired necklace titled ‘The Tree in Cross‘ has just been awarded the Silver A’ Design Award in the category of Jewelry Design in 2015.

As you can see the necklace gives an illusion like it is floating in the air. It was designed and created by the talented Hong Kong based jewelry designer Desmond Chan, who is also the founder of Vulcan Jewelry.

Desmond says ” Salvador Dali is the most versatile and prolific artists of the twentieth century. The piece was inspired by his surrealism art pieces with concepts of contradiction, illusion, floating objects and the stuff of dreams.”

Desmond, who also works in the 3D animation industry started designing 3D printed jewelry back in 2013, when he couldn’t find a Christmas present for his wife. With his expertise in 3D modelling he was able to create a star-shaped pendant in sterling silver using 3D printing technology.

“The cubic cross is a floating object in the air wrapped a tree inside which represents life, immortal and eternity”, Desmond says.
The pendant is 3D printed from wax and cast in sterling silver with white rhodium plating and can be purchased from Vulcan Jewelry’s Etsy page.
